Could be jumping from aggressive behaviour from the other fish, while you were out...just saying.

I put him in a tank for just him yesterday. Hes solo so idk why he jumped, there's no other fish in the tank..
He was swimming around a little yesterday before I fell asleep, I'm thinking he may bounce back. He just looks real messed up now from the jump. It made his jaw worse. He's breathing extremely slow which worries me.
Just got home tonight.. He's gone sadly. My lfs has a mala. But I don't feel it's big enough it's maybe an inch smaller than mine and not as girthy. But the size difference was enough between mine and the curu as it is. Guess I'll be on the look out for a larger mala to try. If things don't work out with the possible new one, I'll rehome him. I just got a 30g breeder, I plan to have a similar set up that i had with my old large mala and previous fish I've kept with this curu this year, and something new (the dollars). I will grow out 4 SD, 2 balas, a 4 line cat, Asian USD cat, a leporinus, and hopefully a gold wolf (hopefully Wes has some when he gets back). The tank will have some activity then hopefully, and enough fish to spread aggression from the wolves in particular, so sort of a JDM style tank lol. The lep and cats may show some slight aggression. If they're like the ones I kept with my old mala. I just need some activity lol. Only fish that swim around are the del, sen, odoe, and the curu swims around the bottom here and there until feeding time or dark.
This lost is really a bummer though. Haven't had the fish for a year, maybe 10 months, but I definitely felt a sort of attachment to him.
