How often do you test your water parameters?

I test my water quality everyday when it was ne tank and yeah I cycled mt tank with my fish in it.
Right now I test ph and nitrate to determine if WC needed every 3 days
Test for ammo and nitrite the followwing 3 days ( they r always sit at 0)
API test kit used

You said this was a great way to cycle the tank in your old thread. You still believe this?

I test it monthly-bimonthly unless I notice something funky going on in the tank

yes i do and would do it again, its the fastest and most convinience way.
the downside is need to keep an eye more on the water quality and do daily testing till the filter is established

As long as I maintain the weekly to bi-weekly water changes and my fish don't display any unusual behavior I really don't check that often. The water in my neighborhood is pretty clean and I perform approximately 70% water changes when I do them.

For those using API liquid test kits, How long are you suppose to shake Nitrate bottle 2?

The instructions said 30 sec but some site said it requires 2 min of shaking else it would give a false nitrate reading

Now that i have the trickle system putting one gallon an hour into my tanks I don't test anymore unless something is going on. So far (one year) I havn't tested.........

30 seconds would work, but since it is known for false reading if shaken well enough extra time is always good.

just follow the instruction on it and shake it hard LOL
2 mins is they want to be real careful and being a little paranoia
as long as u see bunch of little " cyrstal dots" within that chemical its good
