what is best live food to feed oscars as goldfish are frownd upon?

I wouldn't recommend feeding goldfish since they're high in fat & may
cause internal problems in the future. I prefer feeding them guppies
or even danios. Dont forget to quarantine your feeders before feeding
them to your O. Just my .02

yeah don't you know O's love lobsters.... :WHOA::ROFL:

I cant even afford to eat lobster myself, much less my fish:cry:

Don't feed an O a larvae with a touch shell. It drove mine nuts when it came out the other end. The carapace does not digest. comes out as it came in.

It looked like it must have hurt.

i got a 14" O that eats everything from omega one to pinkies, and steak, potato, fruit, bugs, my hand, vegies, the filter, whatever it wants, he's awsome

1 or 2 a week ? i have a prob then i guess lol they hate pellet food i have tried any kind i can find and they only like live food. for example yesterday char (my female) ate one of my corydoras cus i have bin trying to get them to eat more pellets, flakes, and vegies

You could starve her a day or so and then try pellets again. If char doesn't bite after a few minutes, remove the pellets and try it again later that night. Repeat process even if it takes days and weeks. O's WILL NOT starve themselves to death.

Worms, Crickets, Nightcrawlers ect.. as for goldfish as long as they have been quarantined or you breed them yourself i don't see anything wrong with feeding them to your oscar, Providing you do so as part of a balanced diet say 1 or 2 a week.

Steve
:iagree: As long as its entire diet doesn't consist of only feeder fish, a treat here and there won't harm it.
