How should I handle this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I read the entire post, I got it all the first time. Including ......

That must be Jeff's fault, too?

Let me guess, both you & podzy are single, and don't have kids. Yes? Trust me, I've owned my own business (x2), one was partially online, the other was completely online ..... and sometimes sheet happens. Sometimes I even buggered off for a couple of days (gasp!) and emails, text, phone calls, were put on ignore. Period.

I am single and I do not have any kids, that is my choice. But that does not mean that my understanding of what it means to be busy is of a limited perspective.

Aw3som3 , hopefully he gets back to you soon. Most importantly I hope your fish pulls through.

If you don't feel that waiting 11 hrs for a response is unreasonable before outing a vendor on an online forum, try doing what Jeff does then get back to me in 10 yrs.

I just don't get the whining in public when this still could (and potentially can) be resolved with the vendor. WTF? !!!!!Answer my email or I will out you on MFK!!! might not get you the results that you were wanting.

Again, good luck.

What does being single and not having kids have anything to do with it? For the record I don't have kids but I'm not single. Plus I don't see where your little rant is heading to. My original question was how should I handle it? It is a very simple question and I got a lot of good responses including people that would like to know who the vendor is. I mentioned his name once, people can base their decision from their own judgement whether to do business with him or not, not from listening to just one person's experience especially when there's 100's of outstanding reviews of how great he is. Your response just sounds hard headed just cuz I didn't react the way you would have. From your entire rant, I agree with only 1 thing that you stated and that's that I should have brought up a possible refund the moment I was dissatisfied. I may not have experience in the business that he's in but I have a friend whom is. He does everything all by himself including finding the time everyday to respond to texts and emails. Everyone has their own way of running a business. My rants over. The Goonch died anyway last night.

Rant? lol That was just some good advice from an old fart who lives back in the hills and has been dealing in the business world for probably longer than you and Podzy have been walking on this earth. Take it, leave it, don't matter to me. Just a little reality check amigo for future dealings.

Yes, your question was very simple, but no one asked who the vendor was until after you had already threatened to out him, which started in your very first post.

Edit: I won't name the vendor just yet. I'm going to see how emails with him goes first.

Which a few posts later was followed by;

Edit: he still hasn't responded to my email so if he doesn't by tonight I am releasing his name to you guys.

Again, at that point no one had asked you who the vendor was, or to post his name. You decided you were going to do that all on your own, before you even started typing your first post, which was your real reason for posting here, to out this vendor on a public forum if you didn't get an answer that you were happy with. BTW - how's that working out for you?

I agree with only 1 thing that you stated and that's that I should have brought up a possible refund the moment I was dissatisfied.

Good, then you actually learned something from this experience. But hopefully that isn't all you or anyone else reading this will take away from this experience. As previously stated sometimes in life sheet happens. marriage, kids, grand kids, etc can complicate things. The more people involved, the more complicated life can get. People get sick, have the flu, end up in the hospital, get in serious accidents, sometimes even fatal ones, etc-etc-etc-etc-etc-etc. The older you get the more you will come to realize that there can be HUNDREDS of potential reasons why someone cannot always answer email or text in 1 day or less. This is not being hard headed, this is being realistic. If you can't deal with that, my advice is do not buy goods online.

The other thing everyone should keep in mind is the vendors return/refund policy, which with LIVE FISH typically doesn't exist. The policy generally involves "live guarantee", and with most vendors of live fish that policy equates to a number of things, with the end result being pretty much the same as this ones. Any claims must be reported the same day of receipt. Any credit due will be awarded on your next order-no cash refunds.

FYI - have you read your friend Ray's refund policy? I'm assuming this is the friend that you were referring to in your last comment?

1. All fish sale are final
2. All equippment are sold as is

How's that for a cut & dry refund policy! You're right, everyone does have their own way of running a business.

I'm sorry to hear that the goonch died.

Putting the vendors name here was a bad move. You lost all credibility. You are a drop in a massive tank here, probably 10000+ by now have had good and successful experiences, you didn't. My bet if you weren't so pushy and threatening Jeff would have helped you out. I was once pissed off at Jeff for a Broko coming in smaller than I expected. I Sent him an email expressing my disappointment. He educated me about the difference in TL and SL and i realized the fish came exactly as advertised, the error was in my ignorance. He offered to refund the shipping, i turned it down, both because I acted like a bit of a jerk (I had no tank to put the small fish so I had to go to classified and overpay for a setup for him), and straight up because I was wrong and he made no error. He is an upstanding vendor, and if you changed your approach i guarantee you would have been content, but your approach, especially putting his name here, very likely ruined any chance of that. I would have suggested calling if you weren't happy with the answer time, but i would have given it 3-4 days before claiming he's ignoring you. People get busy. People don't live by their computers and phones. Period. I am willing to bet most of his business is repeat, so I guess that the cost of 1 fish doesn't mean too much in the scheme of things, but if you whined to the public without dealing with your private business privately, i wouldn't give you anything.

Yeah, under the circumstances I think I would have given the vendor 2-3 days to respond, and if it took 3-5 I wouldnt be butthurt over it, its a month old transaction already, why the urgency of a half day notice all of a sudden?

maybe the fish was banged about in transit, im sure he wouldnt have sent you a known bad fish, his reputation even extends to us in the uk, ive spoken with him on the phone so im sure you could have called him up, defo a bad move to sell him out so soon imo. your mistake was on the other hand, you got an ill fish and you decided to see how it goes and for what ever reason its turned out bad for you, with an expensive fish 'you' made the decision not to act when you got it.

Note; RD your so rude at times, you get your point across and i respect alot you say but hell! if you have kids they must get a real hard time lol!

This one is all over the place ahahha.
Awesome i have ordered from rapps twice. One was good and one worried me for a bit but a bit of luck kicked in.

Order one: a royal pleco if memory serves me right. And some oddball cichlids my uncle wanted. Fish arrived fine.

Order two: with this order i was already stressing because every time i finally agreed on a few fish i wanted they would be sold out within that 24 hr window that rapps and i spoke via email. Finally when i found some that i wanted and that werent sold out, rapps shipped my cichlids and my uncles and my buddys. Rapps and i were in contact the entire time. Well i was there the second the shipment arrived. My luck.... One of my cichlids was belly up but alive and the water was cold. I immediately emailed rapps about it and then waited an hour before i sent another email to make sure that he got my emails before my window on the refund policy closed. Never heard from him that day even though previously while i was ordering he would respond within a few hours. Second day later no response either but the cichlid was doing better. It was eating and swimming right side up. So thats the lucky part on my behalf so i didnt bother emailing rapps. Till this day i have never heard back on that incident but it bothered me that while ordering from him he was in contact constantly but when i contacted him about a possible Dead fish i got nothing. But again i got lucky it didnt die so anyone can take that as they may.

I keep away from the exotics and suoer rare fish because I don't order fish online. mainly for alot of the reasons mentioned above in this post... and half of the year it's too cold to ship fish to where I live.

I feel like you forfeited your right to dispute the sale when you decided to keep the fish, however, I do commend you for deciding to ride it out and try to save the fish. If you packed him back up and shipped the fish back, it would have been a certain death.

No one used the word emaciated, except you.All I was saying is that a fish being prepped for shipping shouldn't be thin....not an already healthy fish.

Yes I say emaciated cause people keep saying thin like that is not normal. To me the fish looks normal in the video. Goonch's are not fat husky catfish. It looked like mine when it doesn't have a meal in its stomach. It looked healthy to me fins were not clamped color looked fine and didn't seem overly thin or frail to me.

I'm going to try to send some business Jeff Rapps way for all the hassles he has to go through to be a top rated and respected fish seller.
