How skilled are you in fish keeping?

How about noob, but trying.

So far in my first tank, I have been completely overstocked, had an amonia spike I couldn't tame on what I thought had been a properly cycled tank, water that is always murky and now a case of ICH.

Good news is I am not too overstocked anymore, bad news is it's because I have killed a bunch of fish.

I get the basic concepts of most of this stuff, but in practice, I have been having issues

over 30 years hobby, breeder, wholesale, retail etc..
Have 500 + tanks, yadyada
Been to the Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon & not done yet.

I would whole heartedly disagree with you in the strongest of terms possible.

There is a huge issue when people use such all encompassing phraseology.

Personally I have 13 tanks running most over 100 g. And I know without a doubt that many others here would not fit your broad brush statement.

Some of us are not at the behest of whim and spur of the moment emotions in our animal purchases.

Mayhap and perhaps there are some of us who put forthought and foresight into what we are doing with this hobby. Further, perhaps there are those for whom this is not a hobby but a passion and a career of sorts which necessitates that environments and enclosures be the best that can be obtained for those in our care.

Then by your own definition you are not a master, for masters are not supposed to look down on others. Disagreeing with a fellow member in a discussion is fine, but in my eyes would constitute looking down on them for having a different point of view ... just my opinion of course. But then again, I dont look at myself as highly as you do, so what do I know.

Maybe one day I'll be a master and will he able to be as hypocritical as well.....

In some circles, people who view themselves so highly and berate others that dont share the same point of view would be considered Elitists.....

Maybe we should add that to the poll....

Master in training...as I know a lot about fish I've owned...I've owned A LOT of different fish over the years, but I still have TONS to learn.
I'm a master of some, and a novice of many.
