How soon after a water change do you feed your fish?

I dont feed everyday and do wc's on one of those fasting days.

Most of my polys wont eat after a wc...never knew why but they completely ignore the food.

Never fred catfish but have heard from other poly keepers that do feed it and all have reported it leaves and oily film on the surface
