Blue, Green, carpinte. carpintis. all the same thing. I think they breed real small, but not quite 1.5" small....

Actually, Blue Texas are H. Cyanoguttatus (Cyano literally translates to Blue), and Green Texas are Carpintis.

Not that it matters since scientific names are the only ones with merit... just thought I'd throw it out there. :D

Ah....I have never heard a cyano refered to as a "blue"...Thanks for the input, and congrats hightimez!

I've heard the carpintis called green or blue, but mostly just green. I've never heard the cyano called blue texas before.

Same here....

Thats crazy...but then again cons breed that small so i don't see how other cichlids couldn't.

Yours are Herichtys Carpintis Verde, coming from Rio Verde (mexico)...not them actually..but their grandparents :)

the black and white colour is the breeding colour.

P.S.:

pump up the temperature. male will kill female if she wouldn't be ready to spawn every time he wants.
high temperature prevents that female would not spawn.
If she does it, male kills her :(

sorry my english sometimes is bad.

I try explain me.

If you raise temperature your female wold be always ready to spawn e this is her only way to survive male's fury.

I read what I wrote and I explained myself really bad.sorry.
Hope this will helpful.
