i tried a similar thread a while back if i remember right. asking people who have bred rays to post details of their setups , feeding and water change details to help people find the info in one easy place and from people who have actually bred rays ( as opposed to spending weeks trawling and searching as many of us have )

the responses were just as shameful as many in this thread for someone both asking for help and offering a thread that will help others, lots of replys saying search and lots from people who havnt actually bred rays ( as i think you stated ) so defeats the object.

the general idea i get from alot of people on this site is dont bother asking. which is a shame as there is lots of knowledge and knowledgeable people around.

if i had bred my rays i would happily post but it seems my male is either lazy or just hasnt worked out what to do yet

i think perseverance is key . i heard one guy had his rays for 10 yrs before finally getting them to breed so well done to him :)

obviously you need good water , lots of food and space but then all fish need that so its not very helpful without specifics ;) .
It wasn't rocket science! Add mature male motoro and one mature female motoro to the tank! Basically no decorations! Change water min once a week, depending on stock level. I feed them shrimp, smelts, scallops, clams once a day. Nothing needed to be done to the water as in ph...etc. Temprature was 80 degrees. Guess what 3 months later I had 3 pups!

For those of you that have had success breeding rays, did you have any other tankmates other than rays?

I saw a documentary on Nat Geo about freshwater stingray breeders in Thailand breeding Leo's. The system the breeders had was a system that imitated the rainy season. I forgot what title of the show was called, but I would try and copy the system if anyone is interested in breeding rays. Asian breeders know what they are doing.

may i ask how many times you have bred your rays, how long they were together and if they are still together ?

people talk alot dude and dont have the real hands on actual experience.

i call those type professional amatures, theirs alot of them on here that pretend to be experts that are nothing more than person educated by many hours of google searches.

myself my rays are begining to breed.i do hope they produce soon.i have kept rays for over 8 years now and never tried to breed them until now.never really had the money or the space, not until i bought me a house "now i can do what ever i want to it"

Funny how you put yourself above others when your "8 years of experience" leads to you asking about internal parasite treatments and salt a year back. I can't even begin to imagine how you wouldn't have to use those 2 items for 8 years lol.

if it makes any difference i got my first ray well over 10 years ago and have searched far ande wide for rays and shops since then . waited for rays to come in that never arrived at shops and waited for shops to get rays that never did . there wasnt much info when i had my first few rays and i had no internet but i stopped using treatments years ago and ive not used salt either ( although i have a box on stand by )

after years of searching and researching i would hapily ask openly about salt and meds , filtration and tank size even now . but i guess some people are open minded and somepeople are well... not

personally i think its good to have someone else who has kept rays for along time and has alot of *personal* experience rather than just reading experience but thats just me .

i would hope that someone who has not been so much influenced by other peoples sugestiosn and experiences whilst still having their own would have alot to offer but it seems that like every other new idea, sugestion or new person, its instead ignored or put down .

it scares me to think that questions may not be asked about techniques used over ten years ago when we all knew so little :(
