Scott's (DM) Piquiti/Orino pair weren't forced together. They paired up on their own in a tank with Multiple Orino's. They laid eggs...and turned out to be infertile. They were seperated, and then switched out the Male Piquiti for the Male Orino. The Orinocensis then bred and were successful.

Their is no need to bash, but you need to realize the possible implications of your actions if you're successful.

Having said that most of us force a variety of cichla species to live in the same tank. I they happen to pair up and breed are we at fault?
Really all this guy is saying is he want's to do is keep the cichla he has in perfect conditions that they have a chance to breed. Is this so bad?
I highly doubt they will breed and if they do I would expect him to act responsibly like I did, otherwise then would be the time to bash.

Lastly I take back my comment on elitist members. I went off the handle a bit. I can see you guys are all just very passionate about your cichla.

sorry...what i meant was that in no way could it be natural.JMO.

There is nothing nature about the moment those fish are out of their water from south america. People keep animals in zoo pretending or trying to recreate "natural habitat", but no matter how much effort is done. Answer is still NO. Even if this guy created some hybrid monsters, who is here to worry that fish will swim back to South America. If you are a concious man, then don't even buy hybrid. No market, no supply. We should from now on, kill all hybrid cichla. See one, kill one. If anyone here posted ID thread of a hybrid Cichla, call me. I will go kill that bastard hybrid for you.

well there goes another thread in the cichla section. to the OP, if you want to breed those two fish, then more power to you. hybrid fish, especially cichla can be some of the most unique fish out there. dont let the self-proclaimed cichla "gods" tell you otherwise. no matter what you or i do, we will always be insignificant in thier eyes.

and you know what i say, who gives a rats ass!!!!!! my life does not revolve around them, these fish, or this forum. this hobby is just a small part of my life. i do what i do and i post what i want. if somebody doesnt like it or agree with it, tough crap. its not gonna make me change what i do or what i say. i could care less what some of the elitist snobs have to say. if i decide to try and breed an orino and a mono, and these guys dont like it, they can go fly a mother loving kite for all i care, cause its not gonna change my views.

and you know what? i wont lose any sleep over it. so MORE POWER TO YOU. i hope they do breed and they survive, so you can come back, show us pics of these awesome fish, and rub it in the face of these arrogant fools

i would trade the male temensis for a male azul.I am sure it would cost a few bucks more as well. Then you can breed azuls and get 100 bucks a baby, several pats on the back, and you will get a ton more respect.I honestly think if your putting them in a good size pond then they will never breed but you never know.

i would love to.. since here in my country, its very easy to find male temensis, but very hard to find an azul.. but i think its imposible to trade with you since im in indonesia and it will be very risky to ship the fish... :(
