Maybe with young plecos or some females netting works, the whole thing against netting is that the odontodes get stuck in the netting pretty bad, and it causes the fish a lot of distress. Same with bristlenoses, had that happen before.
The absolute best way on earth to catch a pleco is to get some of the junk out of the tank and submerge a clear 'fish bag' into the tank. Completely submerge the bag into the tank & let it fill with water so you can open the end up. Put some substrate on the mouth of the bag to weigh it down and then hold the bag to the side of the tank with one hand. Chase the fish into the bag with the other hand. I swear this works sooo good......no really! Plus your fish will already be bagged for transfer.
