how to cure ick?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah angler ive had ich before. Never lost a fish to it, and treated it with just temp raises and gravel vacs every other day. I think people over load way too much on the salt, like I think your recommendation was too much. I would say this, youre method of just salt vs mine of just heat is a no brainer. Maybe you should research ich, the life stages of it, what speeds it up, etc. I dont think salt is needed at all..sorry my opinion

I am giving my suggestions of salt use based on first hand experience. I have treated ich with as much as 4 tablespoons of salt for every 5 gallons of water several times, and the result was healthy, ich-free fish. Once again, I give my suggestions based on what I have seen work many times. Is 4 tablespoons for every 5 gallons more than necessary if you are using heat as well? Yes.

You are saying that salt doesn't need to be used at all and that you can just use heat. You are probably right, but have you forgotten in your rambling that the OP can't raise his temp?

I vote that you sneak in a heater, and if anyone asks what it is, say it's just to help keep the water clean.. you're telling half the truth lol

Yeah dude and I said he was ***ed. If its at 70 degrees I dono if your salt will even work unless he wants to wait 6 weeks. Hes a good guy, dont wanna bash the OP, but he needs a heater. Even you article talks about fish tanks normal temp between 75-80. I think either way hes in a bind unless he can get the heat up.
I am glad you said salt tho, better than just medicate.

well im goin to use the small tank and dose it and add the 2 mollys to it so how should i go about doing this? i dont have any extra filters just a bubbler

haha angler in that crap you posted the authors first suggestion was to raise heat and nothing else hahahah.

Take the time to read before sounding like a jackass.

From the article:

I’ll start by recommending my first two choices for treatment, which are more “natural” (or at least less “chemical”) and should be easier on your fish, your biological filter, and your wallet.

His first two choices are temperature and salt. He simply talked about temperature first.

No where does he say to use temperature and nothing else. He talks about the possibility of using several methods.

Since it feels like I am arguing with a 12 year old, I am done here.
