How to determine if a stand can support more weight than stated?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a titan eze double 55 and it is utter garbage. If I put a tank on the top only then it is so unstable that I wouldn’t want to be within 10 feet of it. If I wanted to I could probably pull it back and forth and make it collapse. I do not trust this stand with a 20 gallon let alone a 55 however I do have a 55 on the bottom out of necessity.

I regret buying it.

Forget that, the taxes gotten back on that is going to be nothing really. What you need to do is flip it as a piece of furniture and make your money back. If you’re lucky you could get more than you originally paid for it.
The beauty of the donations is that you can assign a value to items, then claim 50% of that value (used). Maximum donation value without an audit is 5k.

I have one. I put a 3/4" pine board on both levels for an acrylic tank and painted the edges black to blend in. Tank's a 37. So far so good.

I would like to point out that my 75 gallon is on cinder blocks stacked 3 high and it would take 220 pound me running full force into it to make it have a chance of coming off of the stand. If I’m being honest the tank would break before it came off.
Perhaps it is stronger given I have 4 colums of 3 high cinder blocks though.

How high a stand is that with a 3 block stack?

24 inches tall including plywood 1 inch thick.
I however have them with the holes facing horizontally so it might be taller or shorter if done correctly.
