I am a vet tech for tropical and salt water fish, the best way i have found is to put the fish into soda water (CLUB SODA) and that will numb the fish and make it tired. then I put the fish into a fish bag or cooler if it is a larger fish then deposit it into my freezer.

it is always sad to loose anyfish, and my losses are 1 every 2 weeks or less. but sick fish get delivered from supplyers or brought in from customers. and somtimes they are way to gone for any effective treatment or cure.

and then there is the question of either putting the poor fish thru hell with meds, treatments and prolonged suffering even thou that it prolly will not survive. or humanly ending it's life to avoid it's suffering.

When faced with this hard question, you must take in account.
is the disease or infection cureable? - most times it can be.
do you have affective treatments for the fish?
what was the age and health and type of the fish to begin with
and can you diagnose the problem efectivly?

if you have any questions about fish health please feel free to call or e-mail me.
