How to feed Earthworms?

What is the proper way to feed earthworms? Is it safe to buy earthworms from a local bait store?
Curious how to prep the worm for feeding?

its fine to use worms from baitstores in my experience. I usually just feed them right out of the container, some people soak theirs in warm water for a bit.

Whens its raining I go outside and throw them in my tank lol

So no need to get the dirt out of them? If I plan on chopping them up, do i need to get the dirt out or safe to just grab one cut it up and throw into the tank? thanks

No need to get the dirt out. Can feed straight away. Can squeeze them out prior and cut up.

I would clean them if they had dirt on them. Pick how many you need to feed and rinse them with your hand and thats it. Cut them up and feed.

I take out the dirt well just because I like my tank clean lol

Thanks for all the feedback. If I did want to take the dirt out whats the best way?
Im feeding them to a Fire eel and hopefully my lima cat as well!
