How to feed Earthworms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think earthworms are 99% protein (not really, but extremely high), or something crazy like that. They are extremely healthy for the fish.

I do have a hard time believing that a few dead ones would have caused an ammonia spike and tank crash though. If you think about it, they would have been converted mostly into ammonia by means of fish waste if they had been eaten, probably even quicker than they would be just decaying uneaten. I'm not saying you should leave them in there though. I think there was something else wrong with that tank...

Nah was right after a tank reset where I changed substrate filters were still cycled and decor was kept with fish. I also added 3 angels right after so the system was a touch fragile. They caused just enough to take down a juvenile pleco and he started a snowball effect. Combination worms and over zealousness on my part.

Not heated or well insulated but attached to the house. There's been ice on the worm bin and they're fine. Not reproducing much but doing just fine. t's really easy to culture red wigglers, folks. Don't overthink it :)
