if its only one shoo him/her away
myself i would feed thousands of gold fish to one bird like that just to have it around.

they are very expensive koi fish,bullhead catfish,parrot cichlids and my 12" red eared slider was also eaten if it was only goldfish i wouldnt care but it isnt its very expensive fish that cost alot of money and they are only migratory to here so they wouldnt be around for long

it ate ur turt!!!!! wtf id be pissed :irked: get an airsoft gun that shoots like 200fps and shoot it that will scare it off and leave it unscathed

are those legal were you are in cali?

I am going through the same thing right now, lost some butterfly Koi. Mine comes when I am not around. I picked up netting from Lowes last night. $5 for 14x14, $12 for a 7x100 roll. Its pretty thin, but should work, better stuff can be had online. Be sure to have it above the water so the bird can't stab through at the fish. I plan to have a perimeter to deter them, then netting to stop them.

Supposedly they walk up to the pond so you can add a perimeter of fishing line to trip them up. i just used the extra netting. I thought of placing a bunch of rat traps (giant mousetraps) tied down around the perimeter. Enough to give them a sore foot but no real damage. Never heard of it being done though so I am not going to bother. The decoys are supposed to work pretty well as long as you move them around.

The scarecrows are about $60, supposedly work pretty well, at least at first.

Good luck, sorry to hear about your turt and fish.

Haha are you going to get the geese to fly into the heron and make it crash land into your pond? :ROFL:
:ROFL::ROFL:

go to walmart and buy a slingshot and a bag of marshmellows......
its harmless, effective, and kinda fun

Had to say it...No idea why someone suggested geese? Do herons not like them?
wild geese with young are pretty aggressive, ive been hissed at and bitten on several occasions

Yea, same here.. I didn't know they would attack herons, but then again from where I live we don't have herons.

NO GEESE! it would be worse ur pond would get super dirty and you would caonsstantly step in poo... and it wouldnt fix youre heron problem

id go with marshmallow+ slingshot idea
