How to keep aquarium clean

I'm surprised how many people are recommending Pleco's for clean up crews... i have one in my tank and i honestly can't wait to get rid of him...

I agree they will help to a certain extent with leftover food, but with the amount of waste they produce, its almost not worth the effort, especially if you're after a cleaner tank, since they will almost definitely add a crap load to the bio-load...
 
Maybe with that stocking my Apple snails wont go down too well...

However: I am also -1 on the pleco, they don't 'clean' IMO, just make more mess, and depending on the species you rarely get the viewing pleasure.

With great [V]ONSTER, comes great responsibilty. Get vacuuming! ;)
 
Thank for all the comments.. New filter and power heads will be added soon.. My water is pretty good since I have kept up w water changes.. Also with only a few fish in the tank it isn't overstocked.. I feed floating pellets but some fish like my Dempsey just chew it up to spit it out lol

^ exactly, after mine is done "cleaning" the next morning my tank is full of long thin brown poop...
