Okay Alberta guys, walleye master in Edmonton is the cheapest for worms, smelts and a few other things. I don't think I really have a solution to cheap ray keeping, I've never tried a gel but imagine it would be messy. I feed pellets but they are not cheap and I also find them messy. I've looked at different types of pellets for other fish (salmon, trout) and found almost all of them had quite a higher fat concentration in them than massivore or nls but could be purchased alot cheaper. Smelts are the cheapest for me around here for bigger rays but I find they just leave the surface too oily so I'm back to talapia and shrimp, if the gel isn't to messy then I will for sure give this a go. If I had the time I would go out and fish more but with the hours I work and also how little luck I have fishing my rays would starve.
