How to make my pearl arowana eat food sticks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks buddy, he has eaten few dried shrimp from yesterday . But after eatin one or two he spits the remaining. He also swallowed pieces food stick but spit it out in seconds

Jars can be very messy eater IME.... the only thing i have seen mine eat whole and not spit out is blood worms, MS and silver sides... any pellets or sticks i give he makes a mess out of it..... and yea if giving dried shrimps just soak it a bit and give... just makes it easier for them... but just be carefull of pointy heads and hard shells...

thanks for the suggestion buddy :) by the way how exactly did u make ur jardini eat pellets?

was no sweat actually.... way too easier than the silvers... when i got him i used to feed MS and then used to throw two sticks.... if he didnt eat then i would take it off.... or sometimes just put crushed pellets with the shrimps....

:) @ kaya - i checked out pics of ur pond, SIMPLY AWESOME! i have a question, Is my 4x1.5x1.5 feet tank enough for my jardini for 2 years?

hey narendra.. thanks :) sorry i'm really clueless about jars and their growth rates.. jus have a read at the stickies.. i've read a 6X3 is adequate but somehow, even that, i feel is small for an adult jar.. i'm sure one of the jar keepers will pipe in with an answer.. cheers

ive noticed the jars are slow growers and if you read the stickies they will state the same.... i guess you can go with that tank for say a year max... but you are better off upgrading after 8mnths... then they get really aggressive if you have tank mates....

Nice Jar mate...... He's still very small to start eating food sticks. Moreover many jar keepers prefer to live feed their fishes at this stage for them to grow pretty fast. MS is a very good alternative option. He'll start eating food sticks as he reaches atleast 8 inches. For the time being keep on trying introducing food sticks to him.
