Well I'm moving to another house have 3 tanks 180,100, and 75gal. Have somewhere around 100 fish, 50-60african, 5-7 pleco n catfish, and 30 south n central cichlids at 3-7 inches. I talk to my local fish store and they said best way to move fish is with bags, so I bought 30 bags. Moving the the sand n rock is a pain, over 300 pds of sand n 100pd of rocks. It's a 10-15min drive. Would appreciate the help.

Full up buckets with sand and rocks, and use a big cooler to transport lots of fish at a time

See I did that last time 2 20gal bin with 50-60African, 20-25 in each , 14 died. Not doing that again. It was only a 5min drive to new house. So I'm bagging 30 fish at a time now and using tire bike pump to fill up bags with oxygen.

Rubbermaid totes with some Ammonia lock and some stress coat, don't put more than 10 per tote or 5 in a 5 gallon pail, cover the totes or pails so no light gets to the fish, will help keep them calm. wether you put them in bags or tote or pail, make sure to put the stress coat, and ammonia lock in the water. should help with keeping the fish calm and healthy till you can put them back into the tanks.

BATTERY AIR PUMPS ARE A MUST if you are crowding fish like that. Forget the bags - too much hassle for a 10 minute trip - you'll end up with lots of leaky bags.

I have transported fish many times in a cooler. Not a little 5g cooler though. There is no reason to use bags. Make sure the cooler is clean and i would only put half tank water and do the rest with treated tap water to keep ammonia levels down.

I've transported close to 20 fish in a bucket on an over 4 hour drive to their new home, didn't lose a single oneand they were all easily 5" long at least. Not sure why you would have issues with transporting them like that for just a 10 minute drive if mine lasted hours . . .
