was just wondering how it is that everyone powerfeeds their rtc's. i have 2 at 6 inches each and they refuse to eat everyday. they will only eat once every other day. i would like to get them to around 10 inches quickly so i can put them in my 240

tanks at 77-78 degrees

My 26" RTC eats as much as I feed him day in, day out. I'm with bass on this one. Check your params. Also what's your water change schedule like?

well i checked me params. and they seem to be normal (im going by the colors on the sticks) and i do 10-20% water changes every friday.

im thinkin it might be because they are still young and they are eating whole shrimp. i come down the next morning and their bellies are still as big as they were right when they ate the shrimp. could it just be a digestive thing? cuz they're young?

i mean they are active and look very healthy. but they dont touch any of the guppies that have been put in the tank for a specific reason and they will only eat the shrimp. but every other day.

dude RTCs r meant to eat ****loads....i think ure temp is too low..hence the low metabolism! my RTCs only slowed down eating after 5 years...keeping in mind that they still have occasional heavy meals! like a few kg of fish each lol

oh damn... did not know that.. i thought 78 was ideal... well temp is going up and i will keep you all informed and updated. thank you for letting me know!

RTC should everyday. Mines are fed two times a day (pellets). One of my RTCs digested poor arapaima in two days (see thread in lesson learned).

The only time i have seen my slow down with eating is during our winter when water temp goes down.
