Do you think they can be eradicated with frequent gravel vacs or only reduced in numbers?

I don't know if these can be completely eradicated. Some varieties are more resilient than others. In some cases gravel vacs with water changes are enough but not in other cases.

So Naididae belong to the same family as Tubifex worms? Or are they in fact Tubifex worms?

Tubifex is in the Naididae family. Some aquarium worms don't look much like the picture below but I'd say yours resembles tubifex.

So Naididae belong to the same family as Tubifex worms? Or are they in fact Tubifex worms?

Same kingdom (animalia), phylum (annelida), class (clitellata) and subclass (oligochaeta.) Different order, family, genus and species. So no, not at all the same.

Homo sapiens is in the class mammalia and the order primates, so using that as a guide, the two worms are as similar as humans are to any non-primate mammal.

I see progress (less worms) every time i gravel vac so Ill keep up with it and see what happens. I think with the way these cichlids dig and their help eating them I'll stand a good chance. I have that Filstar XP XL coming in sometime this week or next week.

I'll be sure to update the thread with the end results for any future google searches on the topic. Thanks for all your help everyone.
