The thing that worries me about selling saltwater is that I don't have experience in that area. To get a lot of experience in saltwater would probably require me to own more than one aquarium. Saltwater gets really expensive though, so that would be taking away from money that I could be saving to start a LFS.

This brings up another question. Do you think it is possible to build up enough fish keeping experience, to be qualified to own a LFS, without owning tons of aquariums? I only have two running aquariums at the moment(20L and 75). With college and work I don't know how many more I could run without neglecting them. I'm thinking of setting up a bigger aquarium or a stock pond in the near future, but I can't see myself owning much more than that. I think I could do more with owning a pet store, because it would be my full-time job.

I tend to be a tight wad as far as investing in new aquariums and fish as well. To overcome this, I'm trying to think of it like paying for education(like an extra course in college). When I see all of the aquariums some people have on MFK, I feel like I would have a hard time ever achieving their level of experience. The only solution I can think of, besides buying more aquariums, is to start keeping more difficult species with what I have. Also, I could start experimenting with sumps and other equipment on the aquariums I have.

Actually had thought of that. Kind of forgot, so it was nice to have a reminder. I was thinking of applying for a summer job at a LFS. I don't know how I'll do. I get the impression that some of the LFS think I'm a know it all, because I actually know the names of fish, etc lol I'll give it a try though

I really dont think someone need to own tons of tanks to be qualified, they just need to learn about the species and havea good understanding on how tanks work /setup.
