Problem partially solved - no Midas coming...

As for the 3 oscars and the JD - they are currently all under 2" - will the 25 be okay for the next few months?

You'll be AMAZED with how fast oscars grow. I wouldn't risk it.

Didn't you read what I said? ONE oscar will outgrow that 25g by June. You're looking at an inch to an inch and a half of growth per month if you're feeding them right.

Dru - if your theory of an inch to an inch and a half per month - seeing that its almost the end of February - that is 4 months - making the oscars that are currently under 2" today - around 7" each.

You are telling me a 7" oscar cannot live alone in a 25 gallon? Druu, please calm down and go back to school for the benefit of all of us.

No wonder our economy is in the state it is in today - foolish, pessimistic people like yourself who think they know all - but really know nothing.

I pray for your future.

druu's right.....

ok so maybe one 7" oscar MAY be comfortable in a 25 gal by itself, but no way 3 7" oscars

Well the oscars will grow quite fast. Thats a given. For arguements sake, lets just say they are your fish and you will do what you want. As long as you know that they need a big tank soon then our goal is accomplished.

AYE AYE AYE

I agree with the others. My oscar grew huge fast. He topped out at 11 inches for a while because he got sick and stopped eating though.

7 inch fish in 25 gallon isn't very safe. If you think about inch per gallon rule: reviesed edition, that 7 inch fish is 3 inches tall, and an inch thick.

nearly 21 cubic inches of oscarfish... (if you ignore the fact that the tail end is narrower) TBH mine grew 1 inch per month. 1.5 is a bit exaggerated. I think maybe 1 would be ok for 4 months (if your maintenance is good: IE 40%/week or 25% 2 times) But yeah...

if you feed little and do many water changes, they might make it (1 or 2 will probably die) but they will be stunted and show signs of HOLE IN THE HEAD.

EDIT: wow I posted slow

u could definitly keep one in there cause ull soon notice all ur fish are gunna die but one, were not trying to thiink were better than anyone, were just giving u the truth. buddy u cant keep all those fish in there or they will die :)

i started with 2 oscars in a 55g about 11 years ago. now i have a 120g, 75g, and a 29g.
120g
3" NTT dat
4" Jardini
5" JD
2.5" EBJD
5" Ornate Birchir
4" Royal Pleco
3" gold nugget

75g
8" Monoculus Peacock Bass

29g
2 2" unknown Peacock Bass

the pbass will go in the 120g when the other's are big enough not to get ate or eat. the JD's will go in the 75g (breeding). and if i don't get a big enough tank for the jardini to go by himself(like a 280g (72x36x25 tall) within a year i will be getting rid of him cause i know i cant house him in the 120g. we arent trying to be know it alls, just trying to let you know it is wrong to put a fish in that environment. you asked for opinions and you are getting them. you will be cutting the fishes life in half just by the stress it's going to endure while being kept in a tank like that. BTW notice how i don't have oscars anymore and probably won't ever. trial and error.
