i started with 2 oscars in a 55g about 11 years ago. now i have a 120g, 75g, and a 29g.
120g
3" NTT dat
4" Jardini
5" JD
2.5" EBJD
5" Ornate Birchir
4" Royal Pleco
3" gold nugget

75g
8" Monoculus Peacock Bass

29g
2 2" unknown Peacock Bass

the pbass will go in the 120g when the other's are big enough not to get ate or eat. the JD's will go in the 75g (breeding). and if i don't get a big enough tank for the jardini to go by himself(like a 280g (72x36x25 tall) within a year i will be getting rid of him cause i know i cant house him in the 120g. we arent trying to be know it alls, just trying to let you know it is wrong to put a fish in that environment. you asked for opinions and you are getting them. you will be cutting the fishes life in half just by the stress it's going to endure while being kept in a tank like that. BTW notice how i don't have oscars anymore and probably won't ever. trial and error.
what did the oscars do:P

Dru - if your theory of an inch to an inch and a half per month - seeing that its almost the end of February - that is 4 months - making the oscars that are currently under 2" today - around 7" each.

You are telling me a 7" oscar cannot live alone in a 25 gallon? Druu, please calm down and go back to school for the benefit of all of us.

No wonder our economy is in the state it is in today - foolish, pessimistic people like yourself who think they know all - but really know nothing.

I pray for your future.

:screwy: yeah, basic aquarium knowledge has everything to do with our economy. riiiight.

however. He is right. i wouldnt even keep 1 oscar in a 55g for life. maybe a year or 2 depending on growth rate. ive had single oscars outgrow 55gs easy.

i find it ironic that you think you know enough to tell somebody they know nothing. when you are ignorant enough to try to squeeze fish that get huge, in a tiny tank.

take the advice and maybe research a little before making asinine decisions like this in the future.

This is ridiculous! You come in here to seek advice from the more experienced, everyone tells you the same thing, but you decide to bash just Dru. :chillpill:

Really though, you're just going to end up wasting your money on that small of a tank if you're planning on housing those fish for life. Just go ahead and get a 55g or 75g for now. With 3 oscars and a JD you probably will have to go bigger than that one day. Even if those oscars fit in 25 for a month or so, they certainly would not be happy. Even though they may be small, they still need enough ground space to claim their own territory!
