How to tell Retroculus Xinguensis from Lapidifer at 2"?

I think GT lost all but one of his, right? That's why I asked. A lot of people seem to report unexplained deaths with fish that looked and acted otherwise healthy.

I thought I seen one of his videos in which one of his lapidifers was eating an earthworm. I read somewhere that that's a no-no. Could be why he lost all but one!

Crimson, they are pretty much the same characteristically as well as habitat and diet. Therefore at young age they get mistaken for the same specie unless you have an expert eye. I like to thank those member on this thread, they really help see the difference.

I think I am going to go with the Laps. Everyone here keep theirs in 82-84 degrees? Does that sound about right?

No feeing them earthworms are fine. I use to feed them to mine and all are fine. So that isn't the case.
