How to tell the difference between a regular jack dempsey and a blue gene

I want to know how to tell the difference between a blue gene and a normal jack dempsey . I think this male might be a blue gene but im not sure. Heres a pic of him.

The only way to know if a JD is a BGJD is know who their parents were. At least one of the parents has to be an EBJD or BGJD in order to produce (some) offspring that are BGJD.
 
Oh ok . I thought it might have been a blue gene. I dont know if the parents are blue genes or not . I got it from my lfs as a trade for my old 40 breeder.

it not true it a myth
there is no way to tell based on physical traits or actions/temperments. The only true way to tell is breed them with a known BGJD or a EBJD and see if you get EBJDs.
