how would this sound..?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Even upgrading to a 75 will not help much with that list, if you could afford a little mo money go up to a 90 same foot print then the O & JD would be fine. Otherwise in a 75 one Oscar or two JD as eariler stated. You could add a bushy nose or two, get rid of the common Pleco.

well i will have 3 tanks when i get the 75 so im not worried about the pleco i can put him in my 55 or 60. so lets say for argument's sake that i only put the oscar and dempsey in the 75. where should i go from there to get a good sa/ca tank?

i would go no where from there. an oscar will make a 75g look small within a year. toss a JD in the mix and you have a stuffed tank. that's IF both fish get along. a common pleco isn't suitable in a 55g or 60g either, they get bigger than 18". a 120g, 48x24x24 would be a good tank size, then consider other fish.

I don't think it getting it a common pleco drops more poo than the elephant at it local zoo not fit for a 75 or anything smaller if u ask me all commons should go back to the wild and stay there an oscar is a lone 75 g fish they get a boistorus 13 to 14 inches u could do a oscar and a pair of convicts with a good filter(s) rated for a larger tank no jag at all and no jd oscar combo in a 75 and definitly no jd /oscar and more stocking ideas listen or don't start threads just do what u do and have a bunch of ugly stunted fish or dead fish.......... Knock knock anyone home yet?

^ i agree.

I'm not sure you get what we're saying, the 75 is really too small for your pleco, 55 or 65 would be even worse, two of us have already suggested Ancistrus (bushynose) if you absolutely need to own a suckermouth cat.

Before you buy a 75, which is really too small to allow you to stock anything else, you should probably research any fish you'd like to own (i.e., fish you want to put into this tank). You'll probably find that the two fish you already have require larger-size tankmates, and that they require fairly aggressive tankmates. In other words, the 75 just isn't going to hold the type of fish you're looking for. So, research fish, figure out which ones you really want, and then tailor the new purchase to that community. You might find that a 125 is really what you need, in order to fit all of the fish that you want to fit, and this would allow you to keep your pleco (he's not going to fare any better in a smaller tank... seems like this would be obvious). You may as well make sure that you know what you want before you spend your money. Personally, I'd never pay the cash to upgrade from a 55 to a 75. It's a lot of money for not a lot of volume.

ha ha k i hear what ur saying. pleco is bad news. oscar and dempsey fill up the 75. im just an anctious 15 year old just gettin used to cichlids. thanks though for your help. ill look into getting rid of my pleco. or just what tank i would need. i've been hearing so many different things from so many different fish stores so its just hard to figure out what to do, one place said a pleco dempsey and oscar would be fine in a 55, which sounds like a stretch, but i believed it and got the oscar. so now im starting to figure out what fish i wana get.. truely i just want a cool south/ central american tank, and am getting a good deal on a 75. so yea...

Ohhhh.... Ok I didn't look at the post count and being young I was the same way I apologize for the knock knock comment

its fine, just its crazy finding out new fish ive never even seen so its tempting to get them thats all. and hearing all these different things from the fish stores i go to. so its just hard to understand all the different opinions when i dont realy have my own opinion yet. hopefuly that helps u guys understand what im thinking.
