oh and ya it has fairly good sized teeth, nothing like a wolf or tiger fish but for a native they are pretty bad a**. i saw one at a bass pro shop that was easily 30" and its teeth where frikin awesome

well it depends, large mouths have teeth like a cichlid, so yes but their pretty small. and i dont know about bowfin, i think they have tiny teeth, but i dunno. i tried taking a close up of just his teeth but it didnt work to well

ya he posted that while i was typing so i didnt see it till after i posted. i have never seen a bowfin in person, just in pictures

ya sorry about that...google answered my question
you wanna say how you perserved your fish?

i dont care if you derail the thread, i allready am. i cut his head off, plucked the eyes, cleaned out the brain cavity, and then used toothpicks to keep his mouth open. i nailed him to a board with his gill covers opened to make him seem bigger. and then covered the backside of the skin with salt and let it sit in the sun for 3 days. after the 3 days i scrape off the salt with a razor blade and it is good to go. also before putting it up to dry and before salting it i get it nice and wet and clean it as best i can to make the colors pop more. i might do a head mount with the oscar, just for the heck of it. ill post pix of the process if i do the oscar

i just dont wanna get rid of him, he grew from a 1 inch baby to a 5 or 6.5 inch monster in 3 months.

you can do what you'd like with him, but 6.5" for an Oscar is no "monster" . . .

ya but what made him a monster was how fast he grew. normally it takes at least a year for them to get that big, i wish he survived, he could of been huge. i am gonna go and ask the lfs if i can get a goldfish, humanly kill him, and then i will post pix of how to preserve a fish, Experiment397 style!!!
