How's mbu with others ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The resolution to this problem if you guys didn't know is to take care of your water. Very easy for even the very greenest of aquarists.

Your are somewhat on your own plane here. The only problem we have after 20years experience of water quality with respect to aquaria is that we have to use basic toys now since we emigrated so we are back to what you use and a little better...

...... First thing your name , do you think your the ghoti of puffers ? I'm just wondering ? Because if that's what it is my conversation with you is done. Your a clown bud if infact that's why you named yourself that

Did you know nitrate comes out of your tap water also ? Your rhetorical the stuff you seem to think is important to bring up is beginner stuff. Walmart sells books with better info .

But I've forgotten your the don of puffers .

I've got to go take care of my guppies and cichlids. All my ray collection died because my mbu killed them . My mbu is probably going to die also because I'm having a nitrate spike.

not sure where this thread is going now :o
but just so you know i keep my 10" MBU with 200 or so tanganyikans cichlids and other lake tanganyikan fish and he leaves them all alone he only has eyes for his snails and prawns.

however if I didn't feed him for a few days im sure he would find his own food. hope that helps.

Very nice mbu !!

Your opinion is valued. I've got alot of space for him. Lots of different large tanks he could go into.

And yes keeping him on a bare bottom tank would not be all that impressive. He's just a lil guy about 6" right now in my 300gallon system my plan was to eventually move him into my 1100 gallon with the big rays?

You have no idea what I use or have.
I have three 20 gallons and massive 180 gallon.

make you mind up please...this about the 8th or 10th post of yours I've read where you seem to have several TARDIS's rather than fish tanks...

You appear to have repeat failures at the basic research level....

Obviously you "could" use the search function but want to use the "silver spoon approach". BTW my consort is a trained water scientist who has done fresh water and pollution analysis for a commercial occupation and researched into new methods of attaining bacteriological fluorescence of a method of attaining influences on ion (metal) and ligand in FW river environments...

I am just a simple PhD chemist who knows chemistry with a specialization in new technique development.

If you cross referenced any of our names but obviously you would not this as it requires pro-activity on your part....
I was out of this thread until you made personal attacks which would have caused issue on most other boards. How is you science experiment coming along anyway ? Presumably you have looked at the distribution of Mbu's and looked up the water chemistries of the rivers and lakes they found in as you appear to have have preferences on water quality with respect to your ray species.... Guess "what" I know nitrates are tap water.... we dont use with suitable filtration and modification

Infact I killed the ceja ray a few weeks ago experimenting with nitrofurazone . The ceja survived the treatments but a few days later died . It ate the day before it died . Why ?? 100% because I added nitrofurazone a week or two before . I tried it again and after because I didn't believe the med killed the ceja ....now on some very nice rays I got from England because a certian cichlid whooped them ,wounds wouldn't heal up. I soon quickly flushed the med as fast as I put it in . The rays reacted like death would set in if I let it go on any longer. All those rays recovered from that .

Medicating rays by adding to water never has ever resulted good for me . Even with prazi they hate it. Nine years experience with rays now meds you add to water don't have anything but terrible results . I'm starting to lean towards injectable and oral is only way to treat rays if infact you know what your treating .

calgaryflames;6522797Lots of rays handle hard water no problem. But I think they will never live a full life like they would in natural conditions. Sent from my iPhone using [URL="http://www.getmonsterapp.com/" said:

you acknowledge you have difficulty with your water quality... I'll find the quote tomorrow and edit this bit...

I can guarantee its your water quality. Fx5 are pet shop filters and not very efficient . Your keeping 3 large rays in a small tank plus other fish. Add a sump and design and perfect an amazing bio filter. That tank maybe ok for a pair of those rays but Youl need to do alot of water changes .

Without qualification of media this is a Naive statement .. control the bacteria and use a carbon source...? FX5 is as relatively well designed pump... you choose the media...
