Slickad - Your mad bro
Not going down all the way is a great way to bump up weight, especially if you don't have a spotter.
Lets be realistic though, it doesn't matter how much weight you put up. It's all about what happens when you take your shirt off...
You Mirin?
Ok so i'm mad??? how is this so?? I take offense to that, mainly because unlike most people on this FISH forum when it comes to weightlifting i really know what i'm talking about and to be told i'm mad is for lack of a better word, ludacris.
I won't disagree that not going all the way down is a good way to bump up weight, however the BEST way (as the OP demonstrates) is doing a full press involving the full range of motion (ROM). The biggest reason people don't do a complete press is because they say it causes them pain or they are simply afraid. This can easily be fixed by using proper form and a spotter. If proper form is applied to a benchpress for the average weightlifter given they have no other injuries there should be no pain.
The only thing that MasterB and i were slightly bickering about is he initially stated that what i was saying was B.S. which he later took back and admitted it was a typo. He and i have both brought up valid points. Maybe you should read a little more in depth before you post supid comments....just sayin BRO.
So you (and anybody for that matter) have to ask yourself this question: Why do you benchpress????
If you benchpress to build muscle then you should know that the last two inches of the press are the most crucial and activate the chest muscles the most. If you press for strength then strength in a full range of motion is ALWAYS better and more transferrable than partial reps. and finally if you press to display your strength because you can lift more at that range of motion, most people won't count the strength feat unless you touch your chest. Now you can disagree with me all you want, but these sir are facts not opinions. Now please tell me why i wouldn't do a full press?????????????????
So it's simply put;
Full Range Of Motion= Full Muscular development or (FMD) by giving your muscle the most Time Under Tension (TUT)
And no, It's not all about how you look when you take your shirt off, speak for yourself BRO. I do it because i just like to be in shape, push myself, eat healthy, and feel good.
If you would like to discuss this furthur please pm me, i do not wish to kill the OP's thread anymore with bickering and i would love to hear what you have to say. P.S. don't be afraid of the mini-max.
