HRP fry - several different colors?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Female is a Convict without doubt, the Male is possibly a Hybrid.

I'll be another parrot and say that those are not pure HRP. I know a breeder who keeps them and they look nothing like yours. I believe they are HRP/Con hybrid. That would explain the random colorations of the fry. Either way they look pretty good. Maybe you can breed pairs of the best of each color form to see what you will get. Just don't sell any of the fry as HRP.

Bill, I used to have what was called a panamanian convict that looked just like yours. Has anyone else ever mentioned that? I saw Rapps had some panamanian convicts for sale recently but never saw pics from anyone that bought any.

Since they are from a LFS and they did not know the lineage, I can only assume it a hybrid and label it as such. Its a great looking fish and I like her alot either way. She is bonded partners with a female Centrarchus so I dont think there will be any fry anytime soon.

I have not seen panamanian convicts .

Here is the happy couple. I like their contrasting breeding colors.

I agree with Bill - if they're from unknown provenance, assume that they're hybrids. Still nice fish but please don't sell them as HRP...

By the way, I've got young pairs of the Amatitlania kanna "Rio Rabolo" (Panama Cons) if anyone would like some ;)
