I'm thinking of compiling a list of potential combinations for a large FW tank that has one or two show fish and a lot of tiny fish to fill the void. So far my only idea is something like a very large pleco species (my adonis, perhaps) with a horde of female guppies and possibly a small school of tetras. Thinking between 700 and 1000 gallons to work with. Sand substrate, driftwood and a few plants, around 77ºF and moderate current due to filtration. So probably nothing smaller than 1".

Any other non-predatory (on the whole) monsters that could pose as showstopper in an otherwise over-sized community tank? Large vegetarian and obligatory aufwuchs browsers?

I believe that Uaru would leave all but the smallest fish alone. I'm not 100% certain on this. I have never owned them. I think they do better in groups too.

MEKONG CATFISH =D

Silver Dollars would probably work out, they get about 8" round...so they'd be "show stoppers" full grown in a pack of about a dozen plus...other than that it's a mixed bag...

Silver dollars will eat smaller tetras. The are predatory tetras and will eat anything that will fit in their mouth.

supposedly eartheaters like geophagus and to a lesser extent satanoperca work well with much smaller fish.
I have personally seen larger characins like hemiodus kept with much smaller fish in large systems without trouble

I'm gonna try neons with my wolf, I have a feeling he may not see them as prey...

Please tell me your kidding. I pray that you are.
