Huge GATF... small tank I dont get it.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fish looks good...but probably a little stunted.

The first step to keeping too many/too large of fish in a smaller tank is to keep the h2o very clean, which you can see this guy is doing.

Next is a good diet.

Then to limit stress from as many other factors as possible.

The animal appears (minus not enough swimming room) to be calm and acting fairly naturally.

Im surprised, usually these guys can be flighty. Im sure its only a matter of time till this fish freaks out in there, and hurts himself badly.

Gorgeous fish, gorgeous water, just not a big enough tank. But that is why he is getting away with it IMO.

My bet is that this fish was either wild caught at this size, or raised elsewhere. and THEN put in that tank. I don't feel like it grew up in there to be that size.

probably shouldn't bet cuz you'll lose. There is no way to ship a tigerfish that big from Congo, its not possible. By the time you capture it, it will not recover. There are a lot of big goliaths in the asian countries that are raised to 30 plus inches in a 48-60" tank, which is a common size, but usually they are square or increased depth tanks. As for how they got them that big and the fish in good shape they have a secret, I know it too.

If you look at the owner of the video, he has many other super rare exotic fish, he's probably a broker for rare fish...

loook at this video, its insane! those people are made of money. and is the tank big enough for the gar? probably not, but he looks happy.

just like dogs probably prefer not being neutered and living in the wild in a pack instead of being man's best friend, bred to do certain tasks, I think that is a bit cruel.

I asked if you wanted to trade a fish, lol. How is that begging for a favor? People MIGHT think a little more of you John if you did not have the "I'm so much better then everyone" attitude :screwy:
I could careless of what people "think" of me. Either people know me, or people don't know me. Do I have the attitude "I'm so much better than everyone?" Did I go mouth off and called other "pest?" Perhaps you need to work on following your own advice, instead of talk but can't do..

That's the problem when someone doesn't know about the fish, yet talk about it. I had some 8-10in shipped to me in the past, in triple thick bags, yet they punctured the bags, two of them even made it all the way thru the bags, laid dead in the box.. May I know the secret you know? :D I'm raising 40+. It's going to be a sight

Just a thought for you. A few months ago I rehomed 2 columbian sharks that grew to 13 inches each in a standard 3ft 35g tank which is 12 inchs wide. Have also seen fish that have definitely destroyed the fish will stunt if in to small a tank rule.

LOL What? You might want to back up and try again....
