Look at what excuses you are using to not give us evidence - photos - of a 20" Parachromis managuense. I'm in Singapore; I can't go there. So get me a photo of that fish, unless you've been lying all this while. Also, please show us evidence of the articles that say Managuense can attain 22" in the wild. Even so, that aquarium you're talking about - is it "the wild"? Can a fish that rarely reaches 22" in the wild reach 18" in aquaria?

And Mojo would know for sure. He's been collecting cichlids in Mexico, Honduras, everywhere for years. Ages. Have you even been to those places? Have you seen Managuense in the wild?

By the way, who are you calling an idiot?

Jaguar guapote can grow to between 500 and 630 mm (Barlow, 1976; Marsh et al., 1989; Page and Burr, 1991; Sakurai et al., 1992). Gestring and Shafland (1997), reported a maximum of 402 mm TL for specimens caught from Little River Canal, in Dade county, Florida.

630mm=24"+

Wow, when someone decides to share info about a cool fish he saw, but God forbid he didn't run to another store in the mall and buy a digital camera to take a picture of it Right That Minute so he could prove he saw the fish. . . . some of you really turn into jerks. Believe it or not, some people still don't have camera phones. Relax.

just have to take it all in stride. point of this whole thread was not hey i saw the biggest jag on the planet and noone else ever will. it was simply a cool place to go, even better that it was in the mall. i checked that place out, did the nascar gocarts and had a great time with my son, instead of the usual mall trip of waiting while the girls shopped. if it werent an hour and a half away i would go take a pic but my ego isnt so big that i need to be 100% right on everything. if my guesstimate of the fishes size is off so be it. it was still a cool place. check it out if you are in the area or with the holiday shopping season upon us. :D

just heard back from the guy he says closer to 16in. plus tail so i was off a little i didnt even think not to count the tail so i aplogize.:)

now that's easy to beleive, see how much easier a thread goes down by just a few inches of fish length:D

A 16" captive Jag is much more plausible than a 20" one. Thank you for finally getting the right info.

Yes, we imagined something was off, its just too unlikely.

search managuense on yahoo and theres several info articals saying they CAN occasionly reach total lengths of 22inchs in the wild.although rarely.do ur homework boys.even when i get my pics from underwaterworld 4 yall some idiot will still wanna argue so go there urselves and if u say u cant then u will never truly know will ya.look i am the biggest dovii lover and didnt think mannys got so big but they do.i think I can tell the dif between the 2 species.by the way mojo,wide angle lens ay,hand looks pretty proportionate to me.

The aforementioned post clarifying he was wrong kinda puts everything you said out the window. Even WC cichlids don't always make it to their Maximum size in captivity. It happens.

We've seen that photo many times, id say its about 16, maybe 17"

I've seen plenty of fisherman photo's in my 17 years of fishing, and I can tell you he's holding that at least 2+ feet away from his body, you can tell by the bend in his elbow and how his arm is a tad past his body. These things look all look very small... but a few simple things like that can add that magical 2" we all argue about.

To clarify, there is a correct way to pose with a fish, and this certainly is not it. And... Im saying this as a fisherman whose seen too many kids trying to make their catch look bigger, not solely as a skeptic fish keeper.
