Huge tanks with tiny fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My wife wants to change her 300 1/2 cylinder into an endler's livebearer tank or fill it with galaxy tetras.

I'm trying to steer her towards a pea puffer breeding colony.

Try to steer her towards some discus with huge schools of neon, lemon, rummynose and other cool tetras chicks dig that stuff and itd be sweet in a tank that size and shape

I think a large tank full of clown loaches and maybe silver dollars would look awesome. so much interaction

obviously the loaches will one day get big but they are really slow growers

In a way, it's a more extravagant thing to do than having a big tank with big fish, because you could house any of those fish in a much smaller tank, but you just have to ball out haha. I totally understand why it's not commonly done, but I would love to see a tank with 40 kuhli loaches for example

Yea haha and like I said it does look absolutely awesome but it depends what you enjoy about keeping fish, its very relaxing watching a large well planted tank with colourful little fish swimming around :)

Im still in the process of stocking my 125 but ive had my long time geo and parrot who are at a decent size, i now have a small convict and firemouth who seem to love all the swimming space. Their speed and activeness really got me liking the concept of having little guys in a big tank

All the kuhli loaches disappeared in the large tank and were seldom seen. I guy I know that breeds kuhlis told me to buy some of those gaudy neon colored plants that match the kuhlis color. So, I bought gold edged and gold-veined black neon plants and placed them in a line at the front center of the tank. Within a few days the plants were full of all the kuhlis. I guess they prefer to hide in something that best matches their own colors.
