I have a 29gal, and setting up a future 50 gal within this week. Will make my room really humid? Also, my dad is trippin' sayin the humidity may cause some type of health hazard? He says its bad for the body, is there anything true to this sort? Maybe he's talking about mold from humidity I dont know? What do you guys think?

Well if it is bad, I'm screwed. :D

I have a single dehumidifier in the main living space, but not in the other three rooms in the house that have aquariums.

course humidity isnt great for you. guess its like living in damp all the time. ive never had a problem with it though, cause ive got lids and never loose much water through evaporation. dehumidifier is an idea though if it is that bad. leave the window open more lol. think it would do the house more harm though to be honest lol

I have had 5 ft and 6 fts in my living room never had a problem you just need a tight fitting lid. If you have a tank of warm water in a room no lid you will have humidity gat a humidity gage and keep an eye on it. I have a tropical pond in my fish room with the cover off it gets humid with it on it stay at this.

But is there any effects of humidity breathed in over time or anything like that? My dad was arguing with me over this issue with a passion.

high humidity can contribute to mold and mildew formation

A good way to track air moisture indoors is to get a digital hygrometer to actually monitor the humidity in the air. It's a simple gadget to read and the information it produces can be invaluable.

Most people feel comfortable at 45-50% humidity, between 68-72 degrees. Some variance on either side of the optimum zone is fine, but wide fluctuations can be hard on your health. If the humidity level falls below 30%, turn on an air humidifier to help put moisture back. If the moisture level consistently rises above 60% in your home, employ a dehumidifier or air conditioner to reduce the moisture level.

I have looked into this before i did my fishroom

I have a 55, 29, 20, 10 all in my 10x12 room with no type of humidifier or anything and there is not anymore humidity than the other rooms. I haven't been affected atleast.
