Why do people always kill the largest of animals? "oh look, a record breaker, I'm going to be a man and kill it"... I would love to blank there blanks with my blank.

Lot of times is not intentional, on the season Finale of Swamp People Troy Landry killed a 13.2 foot long Gator and he had no idea how big it was when he killed it. Also the way Gators are hunted makes it difficult to not kill one that size once hooked, because its already severally injured and stressed out as it is.

Cool!!

u guys dont understand. Its sad yeah, but its nessecary. Hunting is nessecary. Sure its a huge old gator. Trust me I LOOOOOVE crocadillians but it was a good kill and nessecary. Some people dont understand :duh:

Beautiful old guy though

Hunting wasn't necessary where that Gator was killed........Makes no sense really, and yes, I live about 20 minutes from the area that Gator was killed so I have first hand experience.........There are plenty of animals in the 6-10ft class just a minute beyond civilization that would have made anybody proud........I firmly believe that a slot size should be implemented that will manage populations just like any sport Fish.........

Some things just aren't "neccessary".........

I think its a shame that it ended like that for such an impressive creature, but it was legally hunted. Is a gator like this still breeding? I think when hunting for population control the animals in best condition should be spared. Hope it spread its genetics around...

That Gator more than likely controlled at least a mile or more of prime territory, and would still be producing untill he was knocked out of the hierarchy by another Male.......Taking a big animal like that out of an area throws the hierarchy off, and choas will insue untill a new Male takes it over.......

That Male more than likely had 10 or more Females that were bred every season........He wouldn't have hit 14' without it........That's how Gators and most other Crocodilians work........One Male and a bunch of Females in any given territory.........They all come to a specific place in the territory where they breed, then the Females disperse into their own little seperate territory where they nest and lay........

Florida isn't Louisiana, and you know how big a Gator is when you kill it in Floriduh........No hooks, no bait.......

I am really surprised that there have not been any bigger ones than that found in FL considering that the largest gator anywhere was found in LA at over 19 feet. I have seen quite a few 12' gators around here but they have got to be bigger somewhere in FL....

Why? The effect of alcohol on human intelligence.

really eric? I cant even respond. Hunting is neccessary to control populations. SO just ban hunting in that area and tell me what its like in a few months.

I have never believed that whole "controlling populations" bit that every hunter hides behind because I dont think that populations need to be artificially controlled since they have a way of balancing themselves out naturally.

That being said, I have no problem with hunting anything so long as it is done responsibly (and not like the buffalo or rattlesnake round ups). There is nothing wrong with killing this gator because there are plenty left to sustain the populations even after the hunting season.
