Two completely different scenarios. Did you even read my post?

He had an established territory and wasn't likely to migrate to populated areas. He posed no threat to the general public, only those who went into the wetlands. Which in my opinion should be prepared to come across large alligators and act accordingly. The hunter should have spent his time hunting the roaming sub-dominant males that are looking for territory to claim.

This scenario is in a marshland that is not inhabited by anyone. There was no need for him to be hunted. He posed no threat to humans and the area was not overpopulated because he would have most likely fought off any sub-dominant males.

In the scenario jeep mentioned it was in the guys yard near his child and pets.

You can't even compare those two and again only discredits your argument against me.

Dude, I swear the first time I clicked that link, there was a story about a girl who threw a ball in the pond for the dog to fetch and a gator popped out of the water and lunged at them. Then the girl told her father, who came out with a shotgun and killed it. Then I went to reread it, and it was a different story. Haha... sorry about that... I hope I'm not losing my mind here...:screwy:

Don't worry about it. :D

I really depends on how they are hunted, I have no idea how this one was hunted but when I have hunted them we use cabling and large Shark hooks and Dangle bait in the Water and then leave it, The gator bites into the Bait and is hooked, many times in the stomach where there is no other recourse but to kill them. So he may not of had an option in killing this one, depending on how they hunt them.

Again, this is Floriduh.......No hooks, no bait.......Unless you want jail time........

its highly illegal to leave any meat in most places. in fact i know someone who took a moose, took 80% of the meat, and stupidly left the rest. he was tracked down and served a huge fine.

now ill admit, certain animals i do leave. Groundhogs, crows and the sort. I usually push the groundhogs back into thier hole and push alittle dirt on them.

bottom, ur 14 yo city raised mind apparently cant understand. Im sorry, but Iv already posted plenty of reasons why hunting is neccesary. Im not gonna keep beating a dead horse. It was a beautiful animal and will prob taste great. And when i see that huge buck, or even a nice fat doe, even if they are piebald, albino, luesic, unicorn(they exist in white tails, a single or even third horn grows between the eyes) or even melanistic, im gonna squeeze the trigger. Im then gonna enjoy all my meat(roasts, back straps and the rest). yum deer....

I want a deer burger now:drool:

I'm not saying hunting is evil, hey, I ain't some PETA J/O. I don't see how killing an Alligator because it's big is necessary. I don't think whatever hillbilly that shot the thing really has the right to kill something probably 3x as old as him.

And don't think I'm totally animal/wilderness illiterate because I was unfortunate enough to be born in the hellhole that is Brooklyn, I actually ain't that bad in that department ;)

it wasnt because its big. it was for his family. For his income.

so it brings us to

okay guys, we all would have would have rather seen the gator alive, that much we agree on but killing it is not going to wipe out the whole population, there are plenty more big males out there willing to take on the ladies I am sure and I am also sure this guy left plenty of offspring over the years. It is not as big a deal as it is being made out.

PS. New sig.
