"Heeeee we need pics" says Snakeguy gatortheunytedone;4600290; said:i wonder if gator forums ever have "killed me a 6ft human today!"
Citrinellus;4600264; said:Saying my opinion is a redundant post? Last time I checked this forum is open to all it's users including those who have opposing views than yours. Your lack of maturity is only discrediting your argument. Yay!

Oscarum monstruoso;4599676; said:Thats all fine and great, but killing this gator will not reduce the population as someone pointed out already. As the alpha male of his territory, HE kept the gator population in check. Its a mute point regardless, as hunters just use the population argument as an excuse, their motivation is hunting and killing, not population control.
Ummm, did you read the article? It was in his back yard, in the pond that his daughter and dog play in. Thats migration enough, since I'm sure he didn't live in that pond for 60 years. It seems to me that there is wetlands on this man's property, he came across a large alligator, and acted accordingly. He claimed that it was acting aggressively. Are you trying to say that you would let your child and pet play in a yard with a 14 foot aggressive alligator? Next time you're at the zoo, drop your kid in the alligator pen. It's the same thing you're suggesting this man should have done.Citrinellus;4600171; said:What a shame, there is no reason to hunt a dominant male alligator, especially of his size. He had an established territory and wasn't likely to migrate to populated areas. He posed no threat to the general public, only those who went into the wetlands. Which in my opinion should be prepared to come across large alligators and act accordingly.

I'm under the impression that it is miles away from society in a marshland that isn't inhabited by society.
