If deer or other animal populations are out of control it is because of human interference, the argument that hunters help nature is completely false.
You answered your own question. With the development of roads, housing communities, ect we have erased the predators for many of these creatures OR made life easier for some of them to breed like crocs who now have canals and less vegetation to go through to find others...
It was brought up about deer in PA. Sure you could let them starve but there is a severe risk to the human population to allow them to do so. They would search for food in the area and car accidents would go up. A perfect case in point is Valley Forge park in PA where finally they are alllowing limited thinning of the herds. The past few years in the area animal strikes and vehicle accidents have sky rocketed. Lime disease is on an incredible rise and crops are being destroyed on local farms as they reach out and eat that since the normal land will not support them.
Yes it can be sad when a beast like this croc is killed or when a beautiful 10 point buck BUT they have their reasons. You could argue that this croc was in an uninhabited area BUT I could counter that his breeding and offspring stretch out to claim their own territory and they encroach on human inhabited lands. Killing the giant beast could and probably will create a power struggle in that area for a while as a new head male vies for control. That time off will aid in the population stemming from there. It is all a circle.
