I'm fifteen. I'm not dumb, guys, my backyard is literally a hill... I've seen countless dear, a couple of bears, bobcats, scunks, and I have personally been less than two feet away from a coyote that stole one of my pet ducks. Don't even start to tell me that I don't know anything about wildlife. I live 5 minutes away from the San Gabriel mountains. It's a 10 minute drive to chantry flats, and I could run there if I wanted.

And I also know that hunting is regulated. I'm thankful for that. I also said "in 20 years". Many of the animals that we see everyday will become extinct in less than 30 years due to, yes, urbanization. And Acer, I pity you for not being able to go out for a Disney-ish camping trip and just be happy. I feel sorry that you have to kill something to have fun. I think it's okay if you LIVE in a wilderness, and you hunt to keep your stomach full, and to feed your family. But, not the "Going into a managed camping spot with all your gortex and expensive gear" Kinda hunting. That's what I'm against.

If you do your research, you'll find that there is no danger of hunters killing off deer, I'm not trying to make you feel dumb at all, it's just there's a lot of information out there, and it may shed a little different light on the subject for you.

Have to agree the poll is biased. Only way to say yes to hunting is to say you like to kill things. That being said, how many hunt for survival? To put food on the table? Or is more likely to get a trophy? I enjoy the wilderness and enjoy shooting just about anything. As long as it's with my 35 and not a 9mm. Sporting? Sitting in a blind, covered in deer scent, looking through a high powered scope. Sniping is not sport. We will forget how to hunt? What and when is this big event that will cause the need for this knowledge? If this becomes necessary there will be alot of useful bits of info needed that haven't been used in awhile. Maybe we better start brushing up on those skills as well. I do not have anything against the person who hunts for the table. But if your not, and that includes just giving the meat away, then you are probably looking for your next trophy.
Taking a trophy is ok because you are killing something old that is going to die soon anyway. Doesn't even warrant a response.
Last bit of rant. I didn't know turn the other cheek meant to nuzzle up to your weapon to take aim.

It's hard to respond because there are a lot of presumptions made here.
First your assuming a lot about the hunt itself. The high powered scope, the deer scent, the sniping, while some may hunt like this, not all do. What about those who use bow's? I for one have never used "deer scent". And again I eat all the meat that I take home, however if by some chance I have an abundance, then I offer to other people, I mean it's like if you go to the store and buy chicken on sale, and you have to use it, do you just throw it out? Or do you just not buy anything for the fear that you may not eat all of it? If you think about it, somebody killed the meat that you eat from the store and then freezes it, we just cut out the middle-man.
And the trophy thing, while I dont totally disagree with you, you'd be surprised what research there is about how the herd benefits from taking out the older deer.
I don't really know where you were going with the "turn the other cheek" thing though...

i speak for myself alone. i, my family, hunt for the enjoyment of being able to feed ourselfs on the natural things available. and the memories we create together. our son got to carry his gun for the first time this year, it's like an 8 year olds prom! we hunt small game and bird. which is for us to eat. yes we could buy food cheaper and easier, but that does nothing for family or raising a youngster who knows where food comes from besides a store. also i think hunting is becoming a lost art, which in my opinion is sad that a father wont get out there and show a kid how there grand parents fed their familys. just sad that kids these days would rather play a vidieo game about hunting then actually go out side and do it! and whos to blame? the parents! so get off the computer and go outside!

Ok, I really hope that all you people that are against hunting are vegetarians cause if not, you're sounding like a bunch of hypocrites. You say its cruel, it makes me sad, youre hurting their feelings, theyre gonna go extinct...yadda yadda yadda.

Where do you think the meat you buy at a grocery store comes from? ANIMALS. How do you think these animals are bred, raised, and then slaughtered? I can guarantee its a lot more cruel than the deer that was killed by a hunter. So the next time you enjoy that steak, burger or drumstick, take a moment to reflect on how that animal lived so you could enjoy your meal and think before you open your trap to badmouth hunters.

If anybody respects wildlife and the environment, its a hunter, not a tree huggin hippie that does more harm than good.

Have a nice day
