Hunting ?

Don't like killing animal's for (sport) . got my vote.
but no reason not to hunt if you eat what you kill or there is reason for killing.........self defense.... etc

I started hunting a couple of years ago as a student. I like spending time in the bush and wanted to learn something about self-sufficiency and 'where my food comes from'.
I didn't enjoy the death and pain aspect of it, but it is exciting. It is good for people to know the sacrifices that are made for them to survive - even if you don't kill your own food, many, many things have been killed to keep you where you are.
Deer and moose taste better and are healthier than large-scale, massive polluting industry farmed cattle. People who are against hunting yet eat anything that is farmed should reflect on the damage their food has caused. Soil degredation, fertilizer and herbicide application, run-off and leaching, and all sorts of pollution associated with farming.
I'm in forestry and I have seen the good and bad of that industry. Knowing where your paper, dimensional lumber, etc. come from, and what is lost with the harvest, is pretty sobering, and I am not wasteful because of this. Same thing when it comes to food... it makes you more socially responsible.
People living in concrete cities don't have much experience to turn to when they talk about the beauty of nature... you gotta know what this earth has and see the beauty first hand before you preach about it.
