Ah, yes, the calling card of any man with no facts in his argument. I love freedom of speech, but if you read the quote, it had nothing to do with what we were talking about, had not facts, and was meant to be an extreme to paint us with a brush that we did not deserve. You can call that freedom of speech if you like, but there is certainly no need to "open up our mind" to name calling, and broad extremism.

I read the qoute. To keep it friendly I'll stay out of that qoute itself.

But it showed you how someone else perceives it.. That in itself let you know his opinion and even though you didn't agree with it you thought about it for at least a second which opened your mind to his view. No one said you had to agree with it, or that something falling under freedom of speech had to be PC, unoffensive, etc.

How about the alternative? We make up for our forfathers' mistake of killing off deer's natural predator in the United States, the cougar. We reintroduce them in large numbers from Florida to Washington. Then the people who don't want to kill animals will just be taken care of by "natural selection" and become part of the food chain there by feeding the animals they love so much and ensuring their survival.

I think you got it backwards, they've got plenty of Cougars in Washington. It's the Florida Panther that is almost extinct.

Hunting is a dying hobby anyways. It will die out as we as humans are evolving to eat pre-prepped meat. I don't think what some people call "hunting" is true hunting or anything difficult enough to be proud of. I mean Ron White can get one at 55mph with the headlights on and the horn blowing. Bow and anything that involves less automated/range killing is more getting to real "hunting" IMO. I would like to see people hunt with just sticks or very very simple bow. Then I could give real props when someone tells me of a buck they killed.


I will say that we as humans all should realize how insignifigant we are to the world. We are simply creatures like every other living thing. And I guess my standpoint as to why I personally don't hunt as I see everything else that doesn't pose a threat to me(talking wild animals) as having a right to live another day. It would be selfish of me to track down something that has a decent thought complex and lives freely just because I don't like my meat in a box, I like guns, tradition or for some reason I like the thought of freezing ass in the dead of winter for hours waiting for the deer to find me. Lets hope species other than humans don't evolve and start picking up guns..

It's not about being PC at all.

No need to go further, there were multiple people who are unbiased who came into this debate and pointed out the ridiculous nature of that comment. There's a lot more to embracing freedom of speech, than just spewing out whatever you see fit.

Right.. there is lots of stuff everywhere that is just "spewing" and "ridiculous" doesn't mean those people don't have a right to say it just because you, a majority, or the whole country doesn't agree.. As long as it's something that stays opinion and doesn't try to get turned into a false fact..

I was referring to all large cats across the US, but I think you got my point...

(here in Iowa we have a dozen or so cougars)

After reading all the comment's i guess im pretty nuetral although i wouldn't hunt animal's myself .There's some very strong opinion's on the subject though .Interesting reading.

I could be wrong, but I thought the mountain lion, cougar, and Florida Panther were all the same cat?

My aunt lives near Pensacola right next to a nature preserve and she has seen a few black panthers..even black bears!

Cichlaguapote, as far as your comment on why you dont hunt, you just dont get it and that is ok. My brother who grew up exactly the same as I did (we are 16 months apart) hates hunting, so it is just not for everyone. Hunting is not "dieing" either. In fact it is gaining in popularity.

Its funny. I live sort of in surbia now...I dodge deer ALL THE TIME. They are tame here, BUT where I hunt, since deer are pressured...it is TOUGH! lol

Man this thread is great . In my opinion hunting is ok . if u want to hunt go for it as long as it is legal and u dont cruelly treat the animal.I have always wanted to go hunting but im broke from the hood so maybe someday.I dont see anything wrong with it since u are going to eat the animal right?i dont get why people get mad over hunting as most meat they get from markets Comes from a once living animal as well, whats the difference?

As for comparing hunting to being a shoot away from murdering people thats just retarded. Deer is tasty so if i could id hunt one and cook it for my family.As for deer becoming extinct in usa thats very unlikely in tyhe next 20 years .
