Dude you live in Hawaii. You guys are prone to typhoons and tsunamis and not to mention volcanoes! So why do you live there?!

incorrect.

FL is the winner.... as of now we get it... JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! time to find battery power air pumps and generator muwhahaha it only supposed to be cat 1 thought - so should be fine =)

No hurricanes are not that bad except for a select few here and there. Charlie or w/e it was that came through here a few years ago was bad but not tooo bad. I lost power for 5 weeks (sucky transformer) and there was lots of trees on houses and stuff but not as bad as what happened to New Orleans. All though I think FL's flag should still be a blue tarp cuse if you fly over us .... there is STILL houses upon houses in blue tarp!

interesting.

Youre saying you dont live in Hawaii (I guess is possible cause now that I think about it I have no idea where I got that you live in Hawaii) or are you saying that Hawaii cant be hit by typhoons/hurricans, tsunamis or volcanoes?!

Dude last I checked Hawaii sits in the middle of the ring of fire..the most sizemically (spelling) active place on Earth!!! ALL have hit Hawaii in the past and ALL will hit Hawaii in the future!!

Please, do some research first.

Hawai‘i is protected by the vastness of the Pacific (i.e. the improbability of a direct hit); as storms cross the Pacific they tend to lose strength if they bear northward and encounter cooler water.

also, the last tsunami to hit hawaii hit the bigisland (not the one I am on) in the 60s.

BTW- every single area that boarders an ocean, has a "danger" of tsunami.

know your facts.

What do you mean know my facts?

You your self admitted that Hawaii was hit by a tsunami...correct?

Ok did I not just say that Hawaii can/has been/will be again hit by a tsunami?

YES I did and you backed me up by saing that it had in the 60s....so Im right...learn to argue!

Also Hawaii is much smaller then say Florida. Therefore Florida naturally has a greater chance (other then the fact they are in a more active zone) being hit by hurricanes. Its better to say how often a city...say New Orleans gets a direct hit when comparing to Hawaii. Hawaii is also MUCH more prone to tsunamis then Gulf and east coast states because they are in a MUCH higher earthquake activity zone. You know nothing about 5th grade geology if you are arguing that fact. Come on now.

Here is a picture to help. Notice the MANY MANY earthquakes along the so called Pacific Rim? A major one could easily send a tsunami your way at an astounding rate of 600mph!! Also notice the very few earthquakes on the east and gulf coast. Which do you think has a greater chance of a tsunami?

Hola Amigos,

JD has some valid points considering that the good citizens of Florida is being slammed by someone who lives in a State that may be prone to more Natural Disasters.
It's one thing to know the facts. It's another thing to actually understand them.;)

I didnt mean to derail I was just floored that some one from a state like Hawaii would be saying that. If he was from Idaho I would be more understanding.

Back to the hurricane. Im glad latest predictions have it veering east. Early predictions were putting it on the panhandle fri AM and my dad is suppose to be in Ft. Walton Fri PM. If it was a weak hurricane or even a strong storm though it would have its pluses cause fishing tends to be good after a storm!
