Hurricane Irma?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The best thing you can do for your fish in this case is stop feeding them. let the cycle bottom out and aerate as best you can. Also a good idea to get a big water change in if you can manage it.

Thanks for all the advice but I'm just gunna bring them to my LFS and have them board there
Does your LFS run on a generator? I think I'd be more concerned with them there where you can't take care of them personally and then you are depending on someone that already has 1,000s of other fish to care for or worst case power goes out at night and the LFS owner is more worried about caring for their family, etc (which is completely understandable). If they are on generation power when things go south, then fully agree, that is the right move.

Yea they have a generator and will be running back and forth. the air pumps only last like 5 hours and I don't have enoght battery's to keep them up and running 24/7 all stores around me r sold outa D battery's too so it was really my only option. I agree I'd rather them stay in the home with me

I got one too but prob not enough gas to run it 24/7 the weather ain't bad rn but will def get worse in the coming days
Looks like y'all will get hit around Saturday morning... best of luck my man.
We are supposed to feel this thing early Monday morning, although I'm sure that prediction will change again in the next hour.

I'm stacking on this thread versus starting a new one. I'm located in South Carolina, about 250 miles from the coast. I have a group of fry that I REALLY don't want to lose.

Would something like this work for sponge filters? Any idea how I could install a timer on it so that it goes on and off every 5 minutes or so to conserve battery life?
