What are y'all going to do with your fish tanks? I mean...ig worst case scenario, if your houses are flooded, your fish will have more swimming space :uhoh:
No flooding for me. But worry about loss of power. Will have to do manual water changes if it happens and won’t be able to since I have to work. Likely will lose everything. Wife and kids won’t deal or help with that stuff.

kno4te kno4te you must be an emergency responder.

Same here - no flooding risk or tank breaking risk, otherwise I must euthanize EVERYTHING with a deadly dose of clove oil per my government-required Critical Incident and Disaster Plan to prevent any escapes of the regulated licensed fish into the wild.

Yes, losing power is it. We'd run on two gasoline generators, ~50 gallons of gas a day. I have to add 5 gal every 5 hours into each generator. Just to run half the pumps.

We ran like this 9 days without power after Irma in 2017 and 5 days after Ian in 2022.

Quick question for those in Florida: is the Hurricane Cat 5 or 3? I keep getting mixed messages from the internet.

Hitting as a cat 3 from news reports. Wind is and rain is moving so fast. 2 more hours and it’ll be over where I live.

It strengthen back to a 5, but as it got closer to land it weakened back down to a 3. Trees houses etc restrict the air flow as compared to out on the open ocean. The real kick is overnight the actual size of it doubled, so will effect I wider swath. Instead of a 100 mile wide storm, a 200 mile wide storm will effect more for instance.

So far no major structural damage. Still have power and water. Winds are still high but better. See what it looks like after I get back from work later today.

Trying to get to work this morning. They blocked the roads down due to powerlines being down. Gotta wait. On the way out of my community saw numerous trees down and one massive tree luckily missed my neighbor’s house.
