Very nice carp. I catch them when i can!

Carp fishing is awesome...haven't really tried eating any though...My grandfather always told me the best carp recipe was to clean the fish, and cook it on a board...then throw out the fish and eat the board

your grandfather is a smart man:ROFL:

There are some big carp by my house (San Diego) in a small stream. If they looked like the one you guys got. I would have them in my pond.

LOL:ROFL: I heave seen that the 2 I have are roasted planked carp. Scale and gut a carp. Nail it to a plank. Roast over an open fire until the meat flakes. Throw away the carp and eat the plank(same as yours). Onions and bell pepper may be added. There is also a recipe for baked carp. Scale and gut the carp and split into two halves. Place a brick between the two halves, cover with bell pepper, onion and salt and wrap in tin foil Bake in an oven for three hours. Unwrap carefully, throw away the carp and eat the brick. It will be better than the carp. Also works with a shingle or, if camping, a river rock.

I love my carp and I always practice catch and release but I know a few European anglers I have fish with abroad say they eat them but they have got to be under 10lb as they taste muddy other wise. In East London they are sold (small 3-4lb) in the fish mongers.

But and I hate to do this this apparently is a good one.

Cut the Carp filets into two inch chunks, bone and all, and put into a pint canning jar with a tablespoon of cooking oil and a tablespoon of salt. Put the top on the jar and pressure cook for 90 minutes at 110 pounds. Take out and cool and let the jars seal. The bones will be soft just like in canned salmon. Then make fish patties with the meat, chopped onion and bell pepper and crushed saltines. When pan fried they are almost as good as salmon croquettes. Apparently.

In Japan you eat carp as sashimi

I hate it in the US when I see dead carp everywhere/everytime on the ground when I go fishing.
Now I'm starting to get that they're not washed up here, people actually just leave them here..

I actually caught one a week or so ago with no rod, bait, net, or anything.
I picked up a small 12ft. jon with a 5 hp Merc. and took it to a near by "borrow pit" to check it out. This pit is full of bigheads, and one actually jumped, hit me in the shoulder, and landed in the boat.
Scared the mess out of me at first, but was funny later. (after cleaning up the mess :D :D )
Probably 2-3 pound fish, and man can they jump. That boat motor got 'em stirred up as they were jumping up everywhere behind and to the side of the boat and wake.
Ugly fish though. He's back in the water, not on the bank.
