Not now, but many thanks, Cliff. Good to know it is available when/if I am ready.

My knowledge is little. IDK any deseases that occur only in channels.

It is nice to have one's thoughts confirmed.

I don't understand what you say here. What's a low dress out? Also, is there a typo?

Do you know if taste is ever a significant factor?? Maybe Marble x TSN won based on taste?

Dress out means how much fillet can be cut off the fish. So it's dress out weight is how much the fillets weigh once cut off the fish. I don't see much meat on the Marble x TSN. lol. All of the studies on hybrids I have read mainly discuss how quickly they grow to market size, and the dress out ratio. One did mention that rtc hybrids would do better in SA due to the meat not being the dark red of RTC. There is not a huge market for RTC due to some old myths about the meat due to it's color. They hybrid has mostly white fillets like TSN.

I see synodontis hybrids every day at pestmart and most of my lfs.

Yep there are tons of syno hybrids. Anyone with pics of them can post them up. The general discussion is of the larger hybrids due to their monster nature. ;) I'm interested in them all though. Just starting with the big ones lol.

just wondering, has there been any flathead hybrids? Id guess if there is any out would be with some kind of bull head since they are their closest living relatives.

You are correct there have been flatheads crossed with bullheads. Actually when they tried to make flathead hybrids they could only use the sperm of the male flathead to produce any hybrids. All attempts to produce hybrids using the eggs of the females was a complete failure. No flathead hybrids are currently being produced if that is what you are looking for. They were produced in the 1960s and 1970s as test fish. since they were hard to produce and didn't last long they do not produce them currently.

is this a hybrid catfish?

just loos like an awesome color morph to me. :) Amazing fish. Buy it if you have the chance! That tig is gonna be a stunner. He's a little on the skinny side though so if you do get him fatten him up a bit!!!

Cliff do you have any pics of your big avatar guy as a lil' one? I don't recall ever seeing baby pics of him.
