Clarius macrocephalus(female) x Pangasianodon hypopthalmus(male) were apparently produced during the 1980s. Go to the link there are pics of the hybrid within. This study is interesting because it shows how some of the offspring were almost fully clarius strain, some were almost fully Pangasianodon strain, while the majority were a full mix of the two. This one just boggles my mind. I'm still trying to comprehend this and would love to see one if they are still produced!!!

As I rest my brain I ponder are the possibilities endless with catfish hybrids? Seems there have been dozens if not hundreds of large catfish hybrids produced.

never thought it could be possible to produce hybrids of cats so different from each other keep the info coming cliff!!!! I've tried researching a bit on bagarius and brachyplatystoma hybrids but unfortunatly haven't found anything

I'll see what I can find. Look back through this thread. There's a supposed Tig x TSN hybrid.

Heres one of the tsn is question...one on the right (bigger lighter colored) i consider the run of the mill tsn. Vs. The darker one on the left. Definetly different imo not sure tho. I have 2 of 8 that have the darker color and diff. Body style. Wc'd today so i should b able to get some even clearer shots soon :) if not im pullin em out for a closer look.

Why wait? Young small catfish will readily eat from hands as well. :) So long as they are accustomed to your hand I'd wager they will likely eat from your hands already.

Cliff,
Every time i stick my hand in their they bolt into the sides of the tank or corners im afraid their gonna bash themselves to where they will kill themselves dont want that to happen.. whats the best way to go about hand feedin other than Starving them.. My jau was so hungry after he was shipped due to not feedin him for a week before he was shipped so he ate straight from my hand the next day when i fed him & been eating from my hand ever since...

This particular hybrid does seem to be a bit more skittish than others. You may just have to give it time. Even my ID shark calmed down and accepted my hand after a few months. If your hand goes in the tank quit often and never harasses them my theory is that they accept your hand as a non threat. Eventually they can put together that your hand=food. I was able to hand feed the one I had, but I purchased it at 14" and the previous owner had been hand feeding it since it was tiny. Sometimes it might tank a long time. I even had a large lima that after 3 years finally started feeding from my hand as well. I'd say just be patient and make sure when your hand is in the tank that it is always non threatening. Eventually they should get use to it. I would feed fish fillet, shrimp, and chunks of hot dogs to mine from my hand. He would strike it quick unlike the other hybrids I had that would come up and investigate and expect more. You could tell he was very predatory. I would sway the food in the water from my fingertips to entice him, and he would follow it with his eyes. When he was satisfied it was food he would strike it quickly and return to his hole to swallow it and wait on more lol.
